My Background

I am a clinical psychologist with over thirty years of experience working with individuals, couples and groups. After graduating from Bates College with an undergraduate degree, I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Temple University. In addition to my private practice I have been the Director of Psychology at Westwood Lodge Psychiatric Hospital. I have experience working with a wide range of clients. Among my areas of expertise are relationship and marital distress, anxiety, depression, social phobia, trauma and compulsive behaviors.

I have completed advanced training in couples therapy through the Cambridge Family Institute, the Institute for Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and the Psychoanalytic Couples and Family Institute of New England. I am also a Certified Group Psychotherapist and a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. My therapeutic approach has been influenced by a long-standing interest in the application of mindfulness to emotional and relational difficulties. I have presented at national conferences and to general audiences on topics ranging from shyness to intimacy in marriage.
