How Couples Therapy Can Help

We all have a need to feel secure and connected to another human being; to experience being loved and being loving. However, with intimacy comes vulnerability, and in response to disappointment and hurts in our relationships we develop ways to feel safe that can create distance.

In couples therapy, I will work to help you find ways of talking to one another that will take down the walls that may be getting in the way of the loving feeling you once had with your partner.

Our work will help you to:

  • listen more effectively
  • work through feelings of neglect or betrayal
  • handle conflict more successfully
  • overcome sexual difficulties
  • awaken the romance in your relationship

It is best if both of you are motivated to work on the relationship but it is often the case that one partner feels more distress than the other. If your partner is reluctant to come into therapy, feel free to call me to discuss how you might be able to encourage them to join you in doing this important work on your relationship.
