How Individual Therapy Can Help

In the largest survey of people who had been in therapy ever conducted, Consumer Reports found that almost nine out of ten respondents reported that they had improved significantly after treatment. Being able to express what is troubling you in a place where you feel listened to and accepted can give you a new perspective on your difficulties. In addition, individual therapy will give you the opportunity to learn new ways of responding to problems so that you can begin to live your life in a way that brings greater satisfaction and happiness.

Many people choose to be in individual therapy when they are having problems, even if their primary difficulty is in their relationships. It is more private than couples or group therapy and may provoke less anxiety for this reason. There is the added advantage of having the entire time to yourself so that you can explore in depth both the circumstances that are causing you difficulty as well as the life events that have shaped who you are.

Problems I can help you address include:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Relationship dissatisfaction
  • Low self-esteem
  • Sexual difficulties
  • Medical and health concerns

  • Grief and loss
